Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
1. Do you have to know anything about wild herbs to join?
No, absolutely not. My activities are suitable for both beginners and those who are already curious about nature's pantry. The most important thing is to come with curiosity and a desire to experience nature, its flavors and inherent power.
2. Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. At the moment, most activities and courses are for private parties and groups. Sometimes I am hired for open events, then I post it on my Facebook page.
Do you want me to come to where you live? Try to get a group together, and I will come to you! You can also talk to local projects, study associations or other organizations if they want to organize a lecture, herbal guide or course with me. Get in touch!
3. Where in Norrbotten do you hold activities?
I start from Lassbyn near Gunnarsbyn north of Boden. There I have my creative studio filled with everything I have picked and cooked. But I often pack my baskets and go to other places such as Luleå, Boden, Harads and Jokkmokk. I go where I get assignments, but I also try to make sure that I have activities around the county.
Every now and then I travel to other counties in Sweden and even abroad. Nothing is impossible!
4. Can I get to Lassbyn by local transport?
There is a bus (school hours) from Boden towards Valvträsk - line 260 - which stops at Lassby crossroads where it is a short walk (about 5 minutes) to Bygdegården where I keep house. You can find the current timetable here.
5. Can you arrange activities for companies and organizations?
Yes, my activities are great for groups and companies! I am happy to create tailor-made arrangements for groups that want activities where good flavors, new learning and teamwork are desired.
6. How long is an herb walk?
We usually spend about 1-1.5 hours outside, but shorter if the weather is too bad. We always end with coffee and more discoveries indoors.
7. What happens if it rains or is very cold?
For my outdoor guided tours, I try to adapt the tour to the weather and to the wishes of my guests. We can always go inside if necessary. But it is always wonderful to be outside in the beautiful nature all year round. Dressing for the weather makes a big difference, so be sure to check the weather and bring clothes according to the day's forecast.
8. What should I wear when we are outside?
None of my outdoor tours are demanding, but we move slowly - and not at all far - both on country roads, forest roads and a little time in meadows and forests. So wear comfortable clothes for the weather and good shoes that can withstand a little wet (April - September) or cold (October - March)
9. Can you eat the wild plants we pick?
Yes, during the guided walk we learn to recognize edible plants and how they can be used in food and drink. We also learn if there is a risk of confusion with poisonous plants and how you can easily tell them apart. Safety and respect for nature are always in focus.
Depending on the season, there are different plants to try fresh. However, I always have a basket with processed treats made from the plants we find that we can always taste and smell!
10. Can I bring a dog?
In many cases this works well, especially for outdoor activities. Please ask beforehand and we will see what works best for the group and location.
